Women’s Aid Campaign Film

Commissioned by Women’s Aid, The Road We’ve Had To Walk is a film created by myself, Illustrator and Animator Hatty Staniforth and the Survivor Advisory Board as part of the Deserve To Be Heard campaign. The film was premiered in Parliament in January 2023.

The film has survivors’ voices at its centre. In the process of making this film we held interviews with survivors who, kindly and bravely, shared their experiences with us and the barriers they have faced in accessing mental health support. You will hear some of these experiences in the film.

Farah Nazeer, CEO at Women’s Aid, says at the launch of the film “this is a campaign that was chosen by survivors. Mental health was the most important thing to talk about and to navigate the issues together”.
